Back to the bank

Man, my leg knot has been beating me up recently. It went up to my hip this morning. I also set an alarm to make sure that I didn't sleep in again even though I was already awake a few minutes before. My new cheap chocolate hazelnut ground coffee was pretty good. The nice lady van driver took me to the transit center today. I got very lucky that I caught the DIRT on time. There was a bee on the bus for a bit before it flew out the window. When the second bus arrived, the person waiting next to me was "Look out!" when the ramp was coming down. Like no goose, I can see that. I was really paranoid with turning cars. It was like, "Ahhhhh, runnnn!". I did see a road runner chilling on the roof of someone's car. It ran around and then hopped on a tree. I always see them in that area and rarely at my house.

As soon as I turned the corner, one of the fb worker was crossing the street with two other volunteers. He invited me to see the new building, and I have to say that pigs will fly before that building opens in October. It honestly sounds like a hot mess of a situation. The FB is trying to cheap out on the building. The architect, who was a long-time volunteer, just took the blueprints and went m.i.a. It sounds like Meals on Wheels is being pushy and forcing NFH to move out asap so they can move in, and the only workers I saw over there were the Mennonites boys. Something with permits too. The building's previous tenant was solar company that went out of business and scammed a bunch of people. The building itself is alright, the shopping area is a little smaller than I expected. My job wouldn't change much. We eventually headed over to the other building. It was a much quieter day. My usual ride wasn't there either.

I spent most of the time listening and chatting today. Everyone minus the staff left a bit after. I listened to the latest "Missing in Arizona", J Nightmares and Creepy Scary Japan while building boxes. The sneaky snacks today were some really stale chips (I have unofficial permission from one of the head honchos.) I am glad that I noticed it since they were giving them out. They were promptly thrown out with their December 2023 date. So I munched on a peanut butter-dark chocolate granola bar instead. I got distracted as one of the staff was cleaning, and we chatted about PS2 modding, how I can only do certain things on my phat boi if I wanted to, how our current laptops are not built for gaming and final fantasy. (Shout out to ffxi for often overheating my non-gaming laptop. I still love you tho, ffxi!). He asked if there are any similar to 1 and 2 since he only likes turn based rpgs. I could only recommend the snes era ones and said it's turn based up to 10.

I eventually ran out of random boxes to use since I had consumed the already tiny amount of the other boxes. I departed and waited for my lyft. I could walk on my leg but, didn't want to potentially irritate it even more. While I was chilling in the lobby, two guys arrived. They came looking for food and got lucky that the food bank gives out courtesy boxes. For yall who don't know, food banks only provide the food to their own distributions and different agencies. My lyft arrived a few minutes after. He stopped for gas and his snacks, chatted, lectured me, and he put on Aerosmith for the last chuck of the ride. Mom texted me earlier to pick up chinese food, so I ordered it when I got home. I love their mapo tofu, but they keep packaging it poorly, so I lose most of the sauce. I just get another dish instead now. I got curry shrimp this time.

I ordered a ride on the connect app, but it's been really wacky lately. It made me wait 40 minutes this time. The driver was the one whom I am friendly with and he asked me to get him a menu for the restaurant. He was nice enough to wait for me. I fetched my food after a short wait. Unfortunately, I didn't see any physical menus in sight. I hopped in the van again, and even though the driver was there, it kept sending me the other driver. I was going to walk home to cool off my head because of this nightmare app, but the driver took pity on me. After two rides and no luck adding me to the passenger list, he just took me home. I munched on my dinner and saved some for tomorrow. That was my day, and tomorrow was the last Mysterious Tower distribution.(The reason that these are a mix of present and past tense is because I either write these the day of or days late.)

Strange thing of the week I found:Cinnabon bakery inspired flavored nutritional power drink mix.

Out

9/11/2024

Edit:The Wednesday aka today is the last day of inside distribution. They are outdoor distribution only until the new building opens whenever lol. They don't know when, and I wonder how it affects meeeeee.

I left a bit early to run a quick errand and try out a local coffee shop, Mognet 'n Central.I ran into my bus driver neighbor and his wife while waiting. They are always pleasant to talk to. The city app called me a lyft with a seatbelt that wouldn't close at all. I do appreciate that I can get to the transit center while this program lasts in my area. I hopped off to run my errand and then took one of the DIRT to the coffee shop.

The coffee shop was pretty cute, I think it's the same owner as the last one. The owner was super chatty too, it's always nice to chat with strangers sometimes. There was someone behind me with the same name as me, so I said hello to the fellow name haver, and it was even spelled the same way, too. My name is basic, but there are so many ways to spell it now. I got a pumpkin horchata and peanut butter mocha. I jumped on another DIRT to my final destination, and it was really cool seeing the Amtrack train pull up next to the Rail Bouncer train.

Man, PMS cramps sucks tho...

I had to do the usual short walk with a few exceptions. One of the passing ground members joked that we were teammates. I have been running into the same water vendor for the past few years. I can only remember her a bit when I pass by every year. She is apparently moving to another state next year. It was a bit weird having her side hug me. It was flattering that she thinks of me fondly. I'll miss her next year if I work this dang job again.

She was like, "BuT wHaT iF yOu fInD a GuY cUtE aNd He DoEsN't TaKe ThE cHaNcE". I puked internally tbh. Some people want relationships, but I'm just here to make some money for my vacation next year. I don't want to be hit on in this situation. Just like last year, one of the guys she hired off the street hit on me. This time, it was an older guy who didn't listen to "No, no, no!" and I ran to the hills. I ended up coming super early to my shift due to it.

I had to show some random employee how to work the time card. It was also nice that a few random employees politely said hello to me. I covered some "breaks" for people working double. Here are random interactions I remembered to note during this time. Here are random interactions I remembered to note during this time. I tried to warn some old couple what a scam the sky ride is, then he proceeded to call me stupid and asked, "Do you even know what you are talking about!?". Yes, I do! I think it's a scam because it's 7 bucks one way per person and 10 bucks round trip per person. Apparently, there was a 'Mascot parade', and it was some high school band and 2-3 mascots. I was really sad that it was so small. There was no weapons allowed at the state fair in the past, but conceal carry is now allowed this year. They just had to check in with the state police. I went searching to find this fried cheesecake that people kept asking for. Some person bought their bike to the fair even though there is a bike vault. Some guy jokingly asked where Hatch chili is from since he was from out of state. In the end, I had to go back to the booth that my evening shift was at where I was with a sweet, but very conservative older lady.

I like being around her, I remember her giving me a few rides home last year, too. We had to stay until 8 pm and she gave me a ride home. The events that stick out to me during this time was the flirty toy vendor sprayed me with a water gun a few times. He even got my tits at one point. Some lady came to the info booth and actually remembered me from the conversation we had on the bus. It always shocks me when that happens.

There was almost some fight between two girls over some words exchange. Something about some blonde girl bumping into some guy wife and it wasn't them. The wife and one of the blonde girl called each other names. Of course, the state fair police weren't around. I finally saw the "famous" Wahlburgers booth. It's owned by some famous actor, and apparently, one of the guests said him, and the actor go way back a few days after. I got the wahlburger's 3 chicken strips and some fries for 13 bucks. Not bad for state fair prices. I quickly learned that two coffees and the meal don't mix too well. I had to give away my fries to my coworkers. Some weirdo thought my look of misery was me giving him an evil eye over his political party. I got a compliment on my phone case from a guest. I saw a guest with smt/persona tattoos. The coworker of the toy vendor was crazy enough to have that cursed and terrible baked potato from a certain food vendor. I died with stomach cramps the last time I had it. Even the toy vendor was like "They can't cook a baked potato at all".

The end

First post ever!

9/4/2024

Wowzer! My first food banking post, and I'm already very late writing this! I was out the Wednesday before for state fair training. I took the city connect van that morning and the driver was nice enough to pull up behind a bus. It still left without me......

I saw my bus driver neighbor passing by, while I was waiting for the next bus. A lot of people were getting on and off during this trip. Once again, a turning truck almost mowed me down before they swerved last minute. I was a bit shaken, so I stopped at the chain convenience store Fruits for coffee.

The new fb staff member forgot I would be in this Wednesday and out the next. He told the main dry good volunteer that I was out. So I had to tell all the other volunteers what was going on with me. The other fb head honcho of NFH was out on tour, so he finally came back that day. It was a pretty okay shift, we joked that we were going to run a Veggie Tales play to make money for the NFH (Nutritious Fare Hub or my code name for where I volunteer). I had help from two other volunteers cleaning up the boxes so they could take them to Cardboard land. Hooray!

After being dropped off by another volunteer, the trek home took forever. On the first bus, there were a lot of cops with guns for one car, two lanes next to us. On the second bus home, I saw a movie shoot, and later, the bus announcements glitched and freaked out. I eventually got home and counted the hours until my first day of work.
